Mr. Roger Anderson is an Arizona native. He grew up in the rural community of Coolidge. His first instrument was the Trombone. However, in high school, Mr. Anderson branched out into trumpet, baritone, and tuba.
He attended Central Arizona College on both academic and music scholarships. After this, he transferred to Grand Canyon University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education with the emphasis of Instrumental Conducting. Mr. Anderson moved briefly to Brighton, England and taught music as a foreign exchange teacher at Blatchington Mill School in Hove, England. In 2006, Mr. Anderson completed a Masters Degree in Music Education at Arizona State University and is now working on a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Music Education, also at Arizona State University.
Along the way, Mr. Anderson studied trombone with Mr. Robert McAllister, Mr. Tom Ervin, and Mr. Lewis Van Haney. He studied Euphonium with Mr. Robert McAllister. He studied tuba at the Access All Areas Tuba Camp with Patrick Sheridan and Sam Pilafian. Over the years, he studied conducting with Dr. Donald Portnoy, Karel Husa, Paul Vermel, Larry Newland, Ron Philips, James Lee, and Phil Greenberg. He is a member of the International Trombone Association, the International Tuba Euphonium Association, and the Conductor’s Guild.
Mr. Anderson has taught band for beginners of all ages for twenty-one years. |
